Man Fashion: Summer Office Styles 2010

Posted: 29 Jul 2010 07:54 PM PDT

Spring is definitely over and summer is where we are now. You want to stay cool at work, and you're not just thinking temperature. If you're not working at Microsoft, Google, or any of the big tech companies, chances are you don't get the luxuries of wearing whatever you want. So how can you stay cool in the hot sun without being in the hot seat? Below are some pointers to get you started, and examples on how to use these guidelines to work for you.

Think about fabric: Pima cotton is breathable, versatile for all season, and has outstanding quality for clothing. Cotton blends, particularly with stretch wool or rayon/viscose, are great during the summer and keep your clothes fitted to your body. Linen is definitely a must-have in summer attire.

Think of colors: Try mixing bolder shades of spring pastel hues to "spring" into summer. Bold and vibrant colors can look cool and still be comfortable, such as various shades of purple, orange, and blues. Earth and neutral tones – like olives, tans, and browns – are definitely a standard and can look professional with minimal effort. Whites and greys are staples and versatile even when paired with bolder colors to accentuate your personal look. Minimize wearing black as much as possible. If you do wear black, get that in breathable fabrics like linen or cotton chinos, or look for it in subtle patterns.

Think of your workplace: Format your attire based on the dynamic of your workplace. Don't wear sandals or flip flops if your work does not call for it.

Putting It All Together

No matter what fabrics, color and workplace, the most important of summer office wear is able to give you comfort and express individual personal styles.

H&M men’s underwear. 3 reasons why it ain’t half bad.

H&M men's underwear has come a long way the last couple of years. Yesterday I visited our local H&M store and I was pleasantly surprised by how the Swedish clothing store had evolved their men's underwear line.

I actually own a few pair of H&M boxer briefs that I got on a vacation to Portugal last year, and you know, they're still in my underwear drawer. This in spite of the fact that, just as all their clothes, H&M mens underwear sells at discount prices, which (usually) indicates low quality and creativity.

I am happy to report this really isn't what I've experienced.

H&M has a growing number of stores all over the west- and east coast of the US as well as the rest of the world. So the chances of you passing one of the them are greater than you might think.

Now, if you're still not sure that H&M men's underwear is something for you, do go on reading. I've got three compelling reasons why I think this underwear label ain't half bad.

1. Use discount underwear to diversify your underwear drawer

Having a preferred discount underwear brand, that you know won't let you down, opens up a lot of opportunities for guys with tight budgets.

You can easily get a 3-pack of H&M men's underwear, like the cotton boxer briefs on the picture to the left, for around $20.

This means that you can get a lot different underwear styles, cuts, and designs for next to nothing. And in these troublesome financial times, this option may appeal to a lot of guys.

I would not recommend, though, that you go entirely for discount underwear. Rather, you should think like this: Instead of getting three pairs of boxer briefs at $15-20 a pair, get an H&M 3-pack at $20 and one great pair of stylish, quality underwear which usually sets you back $25-40.

In this way you will have diversified your underwear drawer so that you have something (affordable) to wear for your everyday purposes as well a few pairs of high-end, quality underwear for those special occasions.

2. Forget you prejudices! H&M men's underwear is rather good quality

In my experience, when it comes to men's underwear, price and quality usually go hand in hand. And to some extend this is also the case with H&M underwear. Don't expect it to match brands like Bon Bon, Calvin Klein, or Aussiebum.

That said, H&M men's underwear is surprisingly good quality. I still have the (95 % cotton, 5 % Elastane) boxer briefs that I bought last summer, and they haven't lost too much stretch, fit, or color since then.

This is testament to proper manufacturing quality and the obvious advantages of economy of scale enjoyed by mega clothing chains like H&M.

3. H&M = Fun designs

One final thing you guys need to consider when thinking about getting a pair of H&M underwear is the abundance of fun designs and patterns.

Usually, low-end underwear brands do not focus on design besides traditional black and white solid colors. H&M, on the other hand, has a growing selection of colors, patters, and print designs.

Wearing a pair of H&Ms will have you looking fun and interesting in changing rooms, bedrooms, and any other room you may be wearing them in :)

Christiano Ronaldo’s Emporio Armani Underwear photo shoot video!

Unless you've been living under a rock, you should know that the current face of the Emporio Armani men's underwear line is soccer star, Christiano Ronaldo.

I am not sure if Ronaldo has permanently replaced fellow soccer superstar, David Beckham… That would be a shame.

Anyway, I stumbled upon some video footage from a photo shoot with Ronaldo posing in both Armani jeans, underwear, and swimwear.

Scroll to the bottom of the post to see the video from the photo shoot. If you wanna skip to the underwear/swimwear part of the photo shoot, jump to the 02:00 mark.

The photos that came out of this shoot are well publicized, but I am sure you guys can stand to see them once again :)

Oh, and I also included a video from an older Beckham Armani photo shoot (including Victoria Beckham), simply because I think he is a much more charismatic underwear model than Ronaldo.

FYI, a pair of low-rise Armani briefs will set you back $24, which really isn't bad for such a high end underwear brand like Emporio Armani.

Enjoy!

New Brand! Aware Soho

AWARE was established in November 2001 on Old Compton Street, Soho.

The owner, a former diplomat and barrister who was getting quite bored in his career, identified a gap in the market as finding exciting (yet wearable) and affordable (yet excellent quality) designer underwear was becoming a real challenge. He gave up his legal career and went from "briefs to boxer shorts", although his friends thought he had gone mad!!

AWARE's Soho shop quickly became an institution where A-list celebrities and fashion designers would drop in when they were in London. Having a shop meant that our designers could incorporate customers' feedback into our collections which gave Aware an undeniable advantage on its competitors.

AWARE designers come from all around the world, from the UK of course, but also from France, Italy, South Korea, Greece, Spain, Argentina and Japan.

HOMME|FASHION| Who is the Most Influential Man in Men Fashion World?

Whether you like this or not, the most influential man in men fashion world is definitely not Barak Obama, not yet. Brad Pitt is out, Mathew Fox is not in this list. So who else is in your mind?

Yes. David Beckham. If you have read any of the recent news. Dolce & Gabbana is in fact think that David Beckham is one of the most influential people in men's fashion.

The Italian designers' menswear range is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary. Neither can believe they have been so successful in the industry, and believe teaming up with the soccer star in the late 90s really boosted their range.

"Before, it (men's fashion) was for social things, for gays, for eccentrics, for weirdos; it was a small market. David was the start, a hot, straight, family man with kids. He was such a big star and he gave the possibility to be fashionable to millions. He made it possible for men to approach fashion without fear. Men felt if he can do it, I can," Stefano Gabbana said.

The duo admits they wouldn't wear all the clothes they create, but say each piece has some of their personality in it. Both Stefano and Domenico Dolce design with their ideal man in mind, explaining they create looks they want to see men experimenting with.

So do you really agree with their statement? Again, we would like to hear from you. :)

HOMME|PERFUME| LOEWE present: SOLO LOEWE POP

POP ART INSPIRATION

您的瀏覽器可能無法支援顯示此圖片。 Pop art is an artistic movement emerged in Britain in the mid 1950s and in the United States in the late 1960s. It comes into being as a reaction to abstract expressionism and employs images of popular as opposed to elitist culture in art.

In POP ART beauty can be found in any object. Everything from noble materials down to papers, cardboards, cans… is accepted. It is figurative and realist. It takes root in the urban life, twisting the meaning of familiar images towards a new aesthetics or a critical vision of the consumer society.

Pop art is characterized by irony, but we also find in it some constant features such as fame, money, glamour, death…

THE HARMONY OF EXTREMES

SOLO LOEWE POP was conceived as a response to the needs of the contemporary man, who lives surrounded by constant contrasts and is able to reach a balance between his working life and his family life, his obligations and his moments of leisure…

Harmony is the key to resolving these vital conflicts and SOLO LOEWE POP is the perfect ambassador for the man who is able to find serenity in a tense, changing and dizzy world.

DESIGN

您的瀏覽器可能無法支援顯示此圖片。 The essence of art is that something—that ethereal glue—that substance segregated by the artist from the very depths of his creative being that only he can soak, pervade, impregnate matter with.

A deep bond between past and present. A constant desire of balancing tradition and modernity. A clash of art and irony, sophistication and avant-garde.

Like an exquisite clash of strength, chromatic explosion and matter, the SOLO LOEWE POP design express the essence of art. Originality, clash and daring captured in the impeccable forcefulness of the bottle.

FRAGRANCE

Coolness, energy, irony… ART!

Just like a work of art, SOLO LOEWE POP causes an intuitive, personal and purely emotional response.

Resolutely masculine and irresistibly spontaneous, this superb fragrance combines in its wake a harmonious relation between strength and balance, freedom and determination, art and irony…

Tempting and modern chord selection… Surprise and fun personified… A ground-breaking vision of the most sublime art… Olfactory image of a man that seeks balance, open to the world, instinctive, free, sure of his own choices and with a necessary touch of irony.

Good Design Award for LANGE ZEITWERK

A. Lange & Söhne awarded in USA for Innovative Design

The LANGE ZEITWERK has won the renowned Good Design Award, making another prominent award go to the traditional manufacture based in Saxony just before the year end of 2009. The prize was awarded by the "Chicago Athenaeum – Museum for Design and Architecture" and the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.

The Chicago Athenaeum has been awarding prizes to the most innovative industrial products and graphic designs of the world since 1950. The award is not just seen as the oldest, but also as the world's most coveted award in the field of design.

Among thousands of products sent in from 40 countries, the jury in New York decided on 23 December 2009 to give the award to LANGE ZEITWERK in the category „Personal 2009" (objects for personal use).

Altogether a total of about 500 products and graphic designs have been awarded in 23 categories. They will be exhibited within the Good Design Show at the Chicago Athenaeum in June 2010.

The Good Design Award is one of the 22 prizes that were awarded to A. Lange & Söhne in 2009. It is the seventh award for the LANGE ZEITWERK, which was only launched in May 2009.
