Copper Pot distillation

SMIRNOFF^® Black (No.55) uses triple distilled neutral pure spirit as its base. After these 3 distillations, the expert distillers craft this extraordinary vodka a fourth and final time in traditional copper pot still rather than the continuous modern process of column distillation. It is this process that sets SMIRNOFF^® Black (No.55) aside from other vodkas.  Pot distillation allows the SMIRNOFF^®master distiller to develop the natural flavours of the original grain to give SMIRNOFF^® Black (No.55) its distinctive character and aroma. Distillation is followed by single charcoal filtrations, which ensure its purity without stripping the product of its unique taste profile.

Did you know?

• It is the interaction, known as reflux, between the vodka and the copper that gives the liquid of SMIRNOFF® BLACK (No.55) it's character. It is only made in one distillery in the World, in Scotland using a large still of 12,000 litres capacity, with a very tall neck with two reflux units in it.
