Sosume – Mens & Womens Boutique Designer Clothing
Press Release
As the creation of three young designers collaborating between Melbourne and New York, Sosume is a new international brand with a major social-conscience. Their campaign is to produce wardrobe essentials that are of the highest quality fabric and design, but that also give back to the environment.
Synonymous with style and sustainability, Sosume sources only the finest eco-friendly fabrics from the most environmentally-responsible mills across the world, and as a result their lightweight garments are not only beautifully constructed, but are also organic and natural. Sourced from France, the micro modal used in the Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection is both luxurious to the touch and only requires one tenth of the water used in cotton production. Furthermore, modal is resistant to fading and shrinkage, promising a garment that will endure season after season, and only gets better with wear.
Sosume has continued to expand its use of innovative textiles since its previous collection. Sourced from Milan, a beautifully soft blend of micro modal and interlocked wool is used to create a sweater that is both lightweight and warm. Additionally, the purest organic wool as certified by the Global Organic Textile Standards, lends strength and durability to the tailored and structured pieces that continue to add to the versatility of the collection, as well as the quality.
The introduction of a small men's line is also new to the list. This embodies a beautifully tailored jacket, which is a modern interpretation of a traditional morning coat. Accompanying the jacket is an elongated organic cotton shirt with a Western take on a traditional Japanese shirt. Many of the remaining pieces are decidedly genderless and are made to fit both male and female immaculately, such as the hooded cardigan and the fitted long sleeve top.
Sosume epitomizes easy elegance. The minimalist shapes of the semi-translucent tops allow them to be easily thrown on over jeans, or dressed up with metallic. Their neutral colour palette of white, grey, charcoal and black make their garments timeless, and effortlessly sexy. The fabric design blends both knits and woven's to make the garments lightweight and irresistible.
This collection was designed as an evolution from where the label started. Picking up from last season, the idea was to create a seamless transition from look to look, piece to piece. The intention is to enable the customer to add on to their collection rather than replace– which really is a key factor of sustainability both in style and environmentally. By adding fabrics and pieces that can be layered with ease, the opportunities for a personalized and complete look are endless.
Sosume's investment in the environment goes beyond making beautiful clothing by ensuring that 3% of the proceeds from each garment go to charities for sustainable development.
