Blocks away from its clock swamped, tourist-enticing flagship "Time Machine" store on 57th Street, Tourneau has just opened a new concept store. Same time zone, different world. Created by Eight Inc., the designers behind the state-of-the-art Apple stores, this soaring modernist space eschews the traditional "behind-the-counter" retail approach in favor of a more user-friendly shopping experience. Eight large watch tables allow for accessible, easy viewing from all sides, while digital screens embedded in walls feature informative, up-to-the-minute videos. The store also features its own Rolex boutique — New York City's first — which occupies almost a third of the space. To celebrate the new Madison Avenue location, Tourneau has launched a new line of timepieces, the TNY series, with the clean lines and strong look of the city that inspired it. The Rush Hour watch, made from the high performance alloy DLC, features numerals and hands in vivid yellow. Hey taxi!
