A La Mále will just be recounting on a few shows from Milan Fashion Week to give you an idea of what's to come next Autumn/Winter - even though we're still in the current one! So this first little round up includes two of our favourite brands Calvin Klein Collection and Pringle of Scotland as well as the perhaps less global but (as proved) equally commendable Les Hommes.
CKC kept things quite architectural and featured a lot of boxy outwear - a style that has been growing in popularity for a couple of seasons now. However A La Mále's fondness showed with the camel pieces that came in a sportswear ensemble and a gilet paired with a beautiful car coat. There was of course the minimal futurist vibe with a mixture of nylons and leathers typical for CKC but it was definitely the modernisation of classic camel that ticked the boxes.
Les Hommes who returned to the runway with this show after a few seasons presented an exotic use of colour fused with contemporary tailoring and a number of statement pieces including python jeans as pictured above right. Chunky knits were key to this collection featuring block colours including the one for 2012 - orange. Trousers came pleated, scarves came quilted and leather found its way into bomber jacket sleeves. A really great triumph here and a brand to keep your eyes on too.
Pringle of Scotland like CKC also featured a number of camel pieces but with a much higher emphasis on tailoring and fit. Again orange was popular here in knitwear and even leather jackets - a statement in itself which shows Pringle's continuing move toward more contemporary styles. A La Mále remains open yet somewhat dubious about this development as Pringle is quite defined as a heritage brand but we suppose you can't knock Alistair Carr's adventurous vision for the label . . .
