Canali |
Emporio Armani |
Giorgio Armani |
More from Milan in the form of Canali and the two Armani's - a generally darker palette takes the stage; from Canali's gentlemanly style toEmporio's edgy aesthetic and Giorgio's fusion of classic and contemporary. Again these are of course keen favourites of A La Mále hence their inclusion in the Milan round-up and again we are nothing less than impressed.
Canali takes a slightly more flamboyant turn this season with the usual suiting seeing transformations with velvet, bold striping and bottoms that were a little more A La Etro than we were expecting. It is at least refreshing to see that the classic side of menswear is not obscuring the more daring undertones of this brand. Rock star looks were fused with a dandy flavour with statement velvet trousers whilst classic turtle-neck sweaters were the choice knitwear - as has been the case for many this season.
Emporio Armani's dark, sometimes clinical and even sinister collection was, as usual, very bold and edgy. Pictured above are some of the more toned down pieces that contrasted looks including belted black coats that almost gave the impression of a mad scientist. Lots of grey was apparent here and it was more about bringing an edge of sophistication to the generally striking collection. The presence of a poncho here, and at various other collections from Milan, signify that it's here to stay or at least that brands are still trying to force it upon us.
Giorgio's name line on the other hand focused more on playing with fit - tailored jackets with very relaxed trousers. Bold leather jackets offered a vintage military feel whilst a couple of statement fur pieces found their way on to the runway. We also discovered where he was hiding the colour and he saved it for some statement pieces in cobalt blue - something that was massive for A/W 11. Pictured above is just a hint featured under the collar - sometimes all you need is a touch . . .
