The Porsche Boxster S Black edition has been made official, though with a clause. The car maker will make only 987 units of the vehicle, and this could make the car a rarity on the road. The black-themed vehicle will come with a 3.4 L six cylinder engine that develops 320 hp and 370 Nm of torque @ 4750 rpm. With the help of a 6 speed manual transmission, 0-100 Km/h can be done in 5.2 seconds (5.1 with seven speed PDK) before hitting a maximum speed of 276 Km/h (274 Km/h). The limited edition sports car returns 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers, as compared with the PDK (Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) that gives only 9.4 liters per 100 kilometers. The color concept of the car calls for admiration, with black featuring in every little detail of the car. The car gets black body, black hood and black Boxster Spyder alloys with 235/35 ZR 19 front and 265/35 ZR 19 rear tyres. Moving to the rear, no changes have been incorporated in the color scheme. The air intake grills and the twin tailpipe of the exhaust system retains the black hue. The letters of the model name on the rear luggage compartment lid are also in black, proclaiming it as the black edition. The embossed Black Edition model designation on the side of the fabric hood does the same. Additionally roll over bars are also in black. The trend continues to the interior, with "Black edition" written in black in the stainless steel door entry guards. A double-spoke sport steering wheel that has a non-slip rim of smooth-finish leather and sporty grips has been included to add to the charm. Black also falls on trim strips of the dashboard and shift lever. The dials on the instrument cluster are black as are the partial leather seats with the Porsche emblem embossed in the headrests. Black leather interiors are optional, while the limited badge on the glove box identifies the car as the black edition. Comfort, Infotainment and design equipment packages are available as standard. There is a wind deflector, anti-dazzle exterior and interior mirrors, rain-sensor, cruise control and climate control system for added comfort. PCM (Porsche Communication Management) with navigation, universal audio interface and mobile phone preparation, Bi-Xenon lights with dynamic cornering lights and LED daytime running lights are standard. Sound Package Plus brings the audio experience.
The Boxster S Black Edition will be launched in March 2011, and priced at 63,404 Euro in Germany including VAT and country-specific equipment.
